Tectonic Pools is a premium residential pool builder specialising in high-quality, bespoke concrete pool construction.
Operating at the highest tier of the Australian pool market, Tectonic delivers a deliberately limited number of bespoke projects each year — almost always alongside an architect, almost always on technically demanding sites. Each project receives uncompromised oversight from soil report through to commissioning.
Twenty years of trade. Award-winning work since 2013. SPASA Master Pool Builder. Contributor to the Australian Standards that govern how every concrete pool in the country is built.
Zac Dejanovic founded Tectonic Pools in 2006 with a singular focus: to deliver concrete pools engineered, finished and supervised to the highest standard in the residential market.
His role spans every aspect of the business — design, engineering approvals, project management, client liaison, supervision and hands-on construction. Beyond office and site management, Zac personally performs steel fixing, plumbing, shotcreting, pebblecrete finishing, tiling, final detailing, commissioning and the training of new pool owners. This integrated approach ensures precise technical execution and strict quality control at every stage of construction.
Zac collaborates regularly with engineers, architects, certifiers and industry colleagues, and provides expert input into the development of Australian Standards including AS 2783 and AS 1926.1. He maintains active technical relationships with Waterco, Fluidra, Laticrete, Spa Electrics and Europe Imports — including the co-development of a Waterco product currently progressing to mass production — and contributes case studies and editorial to SPLASH magazine.
Tectonic's work has been recognised consistently by the Master Builders Association and the Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia for over a decade, with award-winning projects spanning concrete pools, spas, water features, lap pools, freeform pools and pool renovations. In 2026 the company became a SPASA Master Pool Builder.
Continuing professional development is ongoing. Zac attends national and international pool expos, mentors the next generation of pool builders through technical seminars, and maintains current CPD across all relevant disciplines — combining hands-on craft with sustained industry contribution.
Every Tectonic pool is engineered to perform for thirty years and finished to look like the day it was filled. — Tectonic Pools, Operating Standard
We engage early — alongside the architect, the engineer, the landscape designer and the certifier. Site conditions, structural loads, hydraulics, finishes and approvals are resolved on paper before the first cubic metre is poured.
Soil composition, load paths, hydraulic efficiency and long-term durability are addressed at the front of the project. Compliant materials, AS 2783 construction methodologies, and disciplined detailing on steel, shotcrete, waterproofing and finishes.
Set-out, steel, shotcrete, tile, finish, commissioning. Zac is on site for the critical stages — and most of the rest. A deliberately limited annual project capacity keeps oversight uncompromised from concept through handover.
Member since 2026
The SPASA Master Pool Builders program recognises pool builders for sustained excellence — at least five years of trade, fifty or more completed pools, ongoing professional development, evidence of work health and safety policies, and adherence to the SPASA Code of Conduct and Ethics.
It is reserved for builders with a proven record of quality work over time. Tectonic Pools became a Master Pool Builder in 2026.
Pool Construction. Tectonic Pools played an active role in the review of the updated standard, providing public comments and expert technical feedback. Many of our contributions were incorporated into AS 2783:2025 — the standard that now governs how every concrete pool in Australia is built.
Compliance is embedded at every stage of a Tectonic build: from initial design and material selection through to construction and handover, ensuring each pool not only meets legal obligations but delivers exceptional longevity and performance.
Safety Barriers for Swimming Pools. Zac has provided expert input into the development of AS 1926.1 — the standard governing pool safety barriers in residential settings.
Detailed documentation, engineering certifications and internal audits reinforce accountability and meticulous attention to detail across every Tectonic project.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements are actively maintained. Industry events attended regularly include national and international pool expos — most recently Las Vegas, USA. Subscriptions are held with the relevant trade publications including SPLASH magazine.
Looking ahead: an Outdoor Waterproofing course in 2026, with the longer-term ambition of becoming a pool consultant — combining technical expertise with industry knowledge to advance pool construction standards.
Direct technical relationships with industry-leading manufacturers — collaborating closely on the evaluation, review and development of equipment, automation, finishes and waterproofing systems. Tectonic is currently engaged in the development and refinement of a Waterco product, providing technical input and practical feedback based on real-world application; following successful mock-up modelling, the product is expected to proceed to mass production this year.
Tectonic accepts a deliberately limited number of projects each year — almost always alongside an architect, almost always on technically demanding sites. New enquiries are reviewed personally and responded to within two business days.
